Choose the right crop or split

Start with the result you need: a single tighter composition, a circular avatar, or several pieces of the whole image. Crop and Shape let you position a selection; Equal splits, Grid and Fixed tiles divide the complete source image.

Crop and split modes at a glance
ModeWhen to use itWhat you get
CropRemove unwanted edges from a cover, portrait or product photo. One rectangular image. Choose a preset ratio or a free selection.
ShapeFrame a profile picture as a circle or square. One square canvas; the Circle option makes the corners transparent and exports PNG.
Equal splitsDivide a long screenshot or panorama into a chosen number of strips.Pieces across the width or height, with an automatic longer-side option.
GridBreak a complete image into rows and columns for a layout.Numbered pieces from left to right, then top to bottom. Pixel rounding may make adjacent pieces differ by one pixel.
Fixed tilesCreate pieces with a specific pixel width and height.Tiles at the requested size, plus smaller right or bottom edge tiles when the image does not divide evenly.

Choose composition first, then check pixel dimensions

A 1:1 ratio is a useful starting point for a square thumbnail; 16:9 frames a wide cover and 9:16 frames a vertical image. These ratios describe shape, not a platform-ready size. Move the selection to keep the subject and important text inside it. The Width and Height fields are source pixels: selecting 800 × 600 exports 800 × 600, without enlarging the crop. A tighter crop leaves fewer pixels and cannot recover detail.

Keep a circular avatar transparent

Choose Shape, then Circle, and place the square selection around the face or subject. The downloaded file is a square PNG with transparent pixels outside the circle. It does not remove the background inside the circle. The checkerboard in the preview indicates transparency and is not part of the image. Keep PNG when the destination needs transparent corners; converting that result to JPG will fill them with white.

Review every slice before downloading

The numbered preview shows where each piece comes from. Check that borders do not cut through words or faces, then generate the results to inspect their dimensions. Download a single result or collect multiple slices in a ZIP. Grid and fixed-tile modes include the whole source image, so edge pieces can differ in size. Download before leaving the page; changing the selection or export settings clears the current results and requires generating them again.

Frequently asked questions

Which images and sizes can I crop?

Choose one static JPG/JPEG, PNG or WebP image, up to 20 MiB, 16 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Animated PNG and WebP are not supported. A split can produce up to 100 pieces; all results together and the ZIP must each stay within 200 MiB. Available device memory may impose a lower practical limit.

Can I crop several photos at once?

The cropper works on one source image at a time. Multiple slices come from that one image; this is not batch cropping. Finish and download the current results before replacing the source. For format changes across several photos, use the Image Converter linked below.

Are my photos uploaded, and do I need an account?

Cropping and splitting run in your browser without sending the image to a server. No account or credits are needed. Your original file is not overwritten, and results are not saved online. Refreshing or closing the page loses the current work.

Will exports keep the original quality and metadata?

The tool applies the source orientation and exports the selected region at its pixel dimensions. JPG and WebP are re-encoded at the selected quality, so they may introduce compression changes. PNG exports do not use the quality slider. Original EXIF and GPS metadata are not copied; keep your original if you need that information.
